Installation will work best in a newer fireplace. Older ones with older brick tend to be more brittle thus you may not be able to drill into them too successfully.
Depending on how much you want to spend on your glass fireplace doors, you can really spruce up your plain looking fireplace. One aspect of these doors is that they can be difficult to clean because of the soot from the fire. Therefore, if you are going to install these doors or you already have them installed then keeping them clean is important if you want to keep up the appearances of your room.

Therefore, do not use an abrasive of any sort on the glass. Some normal household glass cleaners may not be strong enough to clean the soot off the glass. One cleaning product that is recommended is your basic ammonia. This is a good product for cleaning, however, you must have proper ventilation. It is also advisable to wear protective gloves, eye protection and a filter for your mouth. In addition, do not mix the ammonia with any other cleaner.
